End user guide for Kinly Event Service


This is an enduser guide for the Kinly Event Service.

Sign in

Depending on what authentication model has been chosen for the event, the screens will look like one of these.


Sign in page (PIN authentication)

The sign in screen will look like this if PIN is the only authentication method chosen for this event.

Sign in page (PIN & email authentication)

The sign in screen will look like this if the email and PIN authentication method is chosen for this event.

You will the receive a token on email that you will have to enter to watch the stream.

Stream page

All the buttons and texts you see on the images below disappear after you have not moved your mouse for three seconds.

Once you move your mouse again the buttons and texts will re-appear.

When you enter the stream page, this is how it looks.

If you hover your mouse over the buttons an explanation text will show.

On this image you can also see how it looks with an active announcement.

Scroll down with your mouse wheel to post or read comments. 280 characters is the maximum per comment.

You can also use the arrow keys or Page Up, Page Down, Home and End keys to navigate up and down.

This is how it looks if the moderator have activated an announcement and a poll, and accepted a submited comment.

Layouts

On bigger devices like computers and tablets you can choose between five different layouts:


Layout: Overlay

Overlay. You can toggle video and presentation position by clicking on the video or the presentation.

Layout: Prominent

Prominent. You can toggle video and presentation position by clicking on the video or the presentation.

Layout: Equal

Equal. This is the default view for phones in portrait mode.

Layout: Side by side

Side by side. This is the default view for all devices except phones in portrait mode.

Layout: Presentation only

Presentation only. You can toggle video and presentation position by clicking on the video/presentation.

Moderator panel (require host pin)

To open the moderator panel you need to click the "Moderate" button in the upper left corner on the stream page. You need to sign in with the host pin to moderate an event.

Comments
New comments submited by stream viewers will appear in the "New entries" column. If you want to make the comments visible for other viewers you need to click the green icon below the comment. The comment will then move over to the "Published" column. You can also click the red icon to reject.

Poll
You can create multiple polls for stream viewers to vote on, but only one can be active at once. Click the "Make active" checkbox on the poll you want visible.

Announcement
If you have an important announcement to send out to the stream viewers (e.g. you want to inform about a delay or a break), you can enter a text, click "Active" and submit.

Approximately 10 minutes after the "end time" on the event the recordings will be available. If you have stopped and startet the event multiple times you will have multiple recordings. The one named "Recording" is most suitable for distribution, it combines both the video and the presentation stream in the same file.

The recordings will be permanently deleted after two weeks.
